83COE - not such a good result | Bullseye 90COE - I really like the bubbles and 3D look in this one | Spectrum 96COE - beautiful black iridised texture | 96COE - Dichroic - the last fused piece for the UFO window |
Hi all, it has been a while since I posted here, sorry for the delay, I have been busy working on the UFO window and the replacement part for my kiln finally arrived so my wonderful stepdad helped me put the new part in on Saturday and I did a kilnwash firing then a test firing on the automated 'full fuse' mode - what a great function! Anyway I tested three different COE types of glass and the two main ones, Spectrum 96 COE and Bullseye 90 COE gave very pleasing results, while the 83 COE didn't quite get hot enough for a full fuse. See the pictures below, the next test will be to slump these pieces into bowls or plates so keep watching for those results! Opening the Kiln

Hi all, I seem to have been busy rushing around and neglected my blog for a week or so, anyway I have completed another lamp repair however I forgot to take a 'before' photo so will leave the 'after' photo for now.. I have a new commissioned window happening and have been testing out some wonderful Dichroic fused pieces to go in the window, see below for the winning tested pieces so far. If anyone has any Mardi Gras Dichroic glass for sale please let me know as I may need a bit more than I have, more sample testing to be done over the next day or two with other Dichroic pieces for the same window, very exciting to add fused glass to a window panel!
This poor battered lamp has done it's time on my workbench and turned into this, I am sure the owner will be very happy :-)
I was sent this photo of a window I recently made, the surround isn't quite finished yet, and the door behind the window is open, so a final photo will be posted when I have it, always great to see the progress of my work once it leaves my workshop :-)
![]() Congratulations to Fiona Fitchett who has won the beautiful Kaleidoscope competition on my website. More competitions to come, don't forget to visit my website www.suzibrownglass.co.nz and get your orders in early for Christmas! My new studio should be ready in about 3 weeks and I am waiting for a new part for my kiln but once that arrives lots of new stock will be on my site and workshops will begin! Thank you all for your kind comments and wonderful support, I am so happy to share my work with you all. A few great things happened today, a gallery in Wellington bought 4 of my native birds and they will be in an exhibition in October! Gallery details to follow.
Thank you Jacqueline for all of your help promoting my work!! I have been accepted to the Dragonfly Software's affiliates program, this is specialised software called Glasseye2000 that I use to create my glass designs, I have put a link to their site on my webpage, check out the demo, it is lots of fun :-) My business has been verified by Google+ https://plus.google.com/u/0/+SuzibrownglassCoNz/about Always good to share great news with you all! Happy Tuesday :-) The art student I am working with has been here the last two days and wow, we have achieved a great deal, window panel is built, soldered, puttied on one side and waiting to dry before we turn it over. This has been a challenging and very exciting project, see the gallery below for progress photos. This panel is 1800 x 750 so it has been a bit difficult to photograph in my workshop. However I should be able to get a better photo tomorrow as we moved it tonight. Friday's progressSaturday's progressI have made my first Kaka, one of my favourites so far, also check out the new design for the Kingfisher.
I have made a gallery on the New Zealand native birds page so you can now click on the images at the bottom of the page and enlarge the images. Sizes will be added shortly, however as a general guideline these beautiful birds are packaged in an A5 box. Hi all, thank you all so very much for your comments, likes and shares, I am feeling so overwhelmingly blessed to have such wonderful people in my world!
I have drawn up a Kaka, and cut the first one out today, to add to the Native Bird series and redesigned the Kingfisher, I will keep you posted with the new designs as soon as I have made them up. The Morepork is also being developed and the NZ Parrot - Kakariki - design is also in the wind. Many blessings to you all, and again thank you for your support! |
I use Dragonfly Software check it out!
