Hi all, it has been a while since I posted here, sorry for the delay, I have been busy working on the UFO window and the replacement part for my kiln finally arrived so my wonderful stepdad helped me put the new part in on Saturday and I did a kilnwash firing then a test firing on the automated 'full fuse' mode - what a great function! Anyway I tested three different COE types of glass and the two main ones, Spectrum 96 COE and Bullseye 90 COE gave very pleasing results, while the 83 COE didn't quite get hot enough for a full fuse. See the pictures below, the next test will be to slump these pieces into bowls or plates so keep watching for those results!
Opening the Kiln
83COE - not such a good result | Bullseye 90COE - I really like the bubbles and 3D look in this one | Spectrum 96COE - beautiful black iridised texture | 96COE - Dichroic - the last fused piece for the UFO window |
